New church site

Check out Journey’s new look! It’s a work in progress, but we’re excited about its development.

Like I said before…

Many thanks to AJ Huffman for sending me this in an email. My sentiments exactly…

Personal savings net style

Many thanks to Justin Baeder who I found ChipIn through. It’s a new site (among many) that enable you to set up a personal savings plan for items that you need/want. Rather than turning to the credit card, you begin the slow, satisfying and liberating process of saving for items. It also enables other folks to contribute to your project if they want (although I would encourage folks to begin their own ChipIn project).

After our church recently finished its Financial Freedom emphasis, this tool looks like a fantastic way of practicing good financial management. I’m also interested in its possibilities for use as a ministry tool. I’m interested to hear what you think as well.

You can view my ChipIn project here or by clicking on the Navigate button above.

Sure-fire way to get hits…

badass.jpg
I don’t know if it’s not really Brandy Files in this pic, but this blogger will probably get a thousand hits before the week is out. That’s what it takes sometimes – spare time, humor, and sheer spunk. I wonder why my butt boil entry didn’t make the web rounds?

What’s down the trail for you?

campfire.jpgI don’t know about you, but 2006 seem to drain out faster than I imagined. It was a little like watching the last inch or so of water in the tub turn tornadic as it vanished in a defiant slurp. Where did the year go? Of course, that begs the next question: What does 2007 hold for us all?

Here at Notes, I hope you’re willing to share in this journey with each other. The journey is enhanced and enjoyed when you talk along the trail. So you lurkers out there, leave a thought or two for us to chew on beside the embers of the fading fire. And for all the friends who’ve been on the trail with me for a while, I’m immensely glad you’re here and are continuing the adventure with me.

Why the shovel dude?

Digg!
Many of you have by now noticed the little guy with the shovel at the end of every post. It’s the icon and link for digg.com.

Apart from me saying that digg is a website that helps connect you to the content and writers/news sources that you enjoy most, digg is also a “user driven social content website,” according to their site.

They say it best here:

Ok, so what the heck does that mean? Well, everything on Digg is submitted by our community (that would be you). After you submit content, other people read your submission and Digg what they like best. If your story rocks and receives enough Diggs, it is promoted to the front page for the millions of visitors to see.

What can you do as a Digg user? Lots. Every person can digg (help promote), bury (help remove spam), and comment on stories… you can even Digg and bury comments you like or dislike. Digg also allows you to track your friends’ activity throughout the site — want to share a video or news story with a friend? Digg it!

Here’s how digg works.

In addition, there’s a great entry over at careerlinked.com about how to improve your digging and become more diggable.

So, the moral of the story is that when you read a really good blog entry by someone, go digg it. You can click on the digg icons at the end of the blog entry, or log on to digg.com and digg it yourself. The world deserves to know what you know…

Mac users, rejoice!

Everyone get ready for this year’s astonishing Mac revelations. Steve Jobs is slated to give an unprecedented almost two-hour intro speech at 2007′s MacWorld Expo in San Francisco. Among the speculations in Apple’s super-secret arsenal of technology are:

    iphoneuk.jpg
  • • An Apple phone that will combine the fun and ease of use of the iPod, iPod video and the Mac with simple, no holds barred cellular capabilities
  • • iTV! – a media center that is destined to change all of our viewing and recording habits. Say goodbye to TiVo and say hello to Mac TV?
  • • iCar – it positively cannot crash. (OK, so maybe I made the last one up…)

We’re baaack…

We dragged ourselves into the house at 7:30 this evening and began unpacking, stowing, and trashing frenzy. Forty-five minutes later, things are about as good as they’ll get tonight. Tomorrow will begin the undecorating and cleaning. Here’s my list of reads over the last week or so. Nuff said for this evening.
