I have no idea what the Forge conference is, but I saw a promo for it over at Backyard Missionary and am extremely intrigued. Who couldn’t be when your promo poster looks like this?

They say their goals are the following:

  1. Rethinking Mission and Church in a Post-Christian World
  2. Discipleship, Mission and Sustainable Spirituality
  3. Pioneering Leadership

  1. Mark W. Says:

It is interesting to me that Christians are using the term “Post-Christian” to describe contemporary society. This is a term that a lot of academics already accept as a good descriptor for current trends, but it hasn’t yet seen significant publication because nobody has stepped out to define it eloquently yet.

I wonder how these conference organizers envision this term, because it is normally used to suggest that the influence of Christianity on the world has ended, at least in any significant way, and that its social power is waning more and more each day.
