I think having "teen" in the number of children you have is insane. Whether or not you are financially capable of supporting them is a moot point.

You can't possibly spend quality one on one time with thirteen, fourteen, fifteen children. There's not enough hours in the day. Wanting that many children makes me think some people are trying to compensate for some void they have, to feel needed or something.

My dad is number 11 of 12 kids. All full siblings, from the same parents, with no multiple births. Although they are a very close bunch, I don't think the hardships were worth doing that to the kids. In our society we don't want our kids to "want" for anything. Well, what about when they "need" for things?

such a tough issue. It was overwhelming to read through some of the comments.. but I guess I'm on middle ground. I can't imagine God wanting us to continue having children when we can't keep a rough over their heads, food in their stomachs, or even keep them in our custody b/c we can't provide for them. I think it's far too easy to just throw out "God provides." I'm sure the dying of starvation infants in third world countries didn't get that memo... I guess I'll put myself out there and say I think avoiding pregnancy is smart for many people for many reasons. Take me, I've already had 3 csections... having one more is accpetable, but after that it's quite risky. God gave us brains along with the Bible. There was no such thing as the birth control pill, tubal ligation, or vasectomy in biblical times so it's hard to say what would've been said about them. What about natural family planning? (avoiding intercourse during fertile times) Is that considered wrong too? Seriously.. I think it's a bit silly to think that God WANTS us to just throw caution to the wind and keep having children until our homes explode. Not to offend anyone.. just my humble opinion!
