Carolyn and I were married 15 years ago, in May 1992. Wow. I’m more in love with her today than ever. I truly married and still enjoy the companionship of my best friend. Our home is one of playfulness, laughter and endless surprise. We’re deeply imperfect, blessed people.
The first few months of our marriage [...]

Extreme Homemakeover introduces materialism?
Punkisrael is back. David was one of the very first bloggers I began following two years ago, and he stopped for a while. I was disappointed. However, in the last several weeks, he’s been posting again, much to my delight, and he asks some provocative questions about the ABC show Extreme Makeover Home Edition in this entry. What think ye?
Bloglines burp
Has anyone else noticed recently (and occasionally) how Bloglines will burp and give you a whole slew of “new” entries from you subscriptions only to discover that they’re not new at all? Why is that?
Is your faith demanding?
Lou has an amazing, thought-provoking post. It’s made all the more so by the powerful examples she shares from her own life. Thanks, Lou.

Oh snap, Cavman has gotten aholdt of Osteen’s Your Best Life Now and is reviewing it…

What helps a church plant “make it?”
MMI has written a brief article summarizing the findings of a Southern Baptist study (actual download of pdf file of the study) that seeks to determine new church “survivability.” It’s well worth reading for you church planters or members of new churches. Let me know what you think.
A cat named OS X
Justin is the man. He talked his girlfriend into naming her cat “OS X.”
Recommended Read

Cavman highly recommends Carson’s new book about prayer called A Call to Spiritual Reformation. I’m currently immersed in Phillip Yancey’s simply titled but powerfully written book, Prayer. Look for a review about it sometime in the future.
Don’t get chilled by global warming myths
Compelling scientific research continually shows that the hype over global warming may be just that. And political postering. A great article at the Chicago Sun-Times calls on Al Gore to apologize for his film An Inconvenient Truth which is so riddled with scientific error that it should be run as a half-baked political cartoon rather than pose as a documentary.
Many of the assertions Gore makes in his movie, ”An Inconvenient Truth,” have been refuted by science, both before and after he made them. Gore can show sincerity in his plea for scientific honesty by publicly acknowledging where science has rebutted his claims.
iPhone exceeds even best expectations
In an indepth review, Amtech analyst Shaw Wu said…
“We estimate sales of about 250,000 units in two days (up from our previous view of 50,000). The previous fastest seller was iPod nano, which sold about 1 million units in about 17 days meaning, about 59,000 units per day.”
From a “big picture” standpoint, Wu said iPhone represents the start of a potential revolution in both PC and mobile electronics industries, given his view that the device is not just a classic old school product in that “it is landscape changing, being the first true convergence device that combines the best media player (widescreen video iPod), a near full-function web browser (Safari), e-mail/contacts/calendar, and a cellular phone.”
Like I said earlier… I am NOT disappointed. I feel like Captain Kirk.
More good news for iPhoners
Apple is on top of things! Scheduled for the immediate future is the upgrade of your iPhone through software updates. Things to come include many of the omissions that iPhone users (like me!) don’t immediately notice upon their initial euphoria, but after much use begin to silently wonder why ______ feature was left off.
Blogs4God

A new site seeks to become the Digg of the Christian blogosphere. Blogs4God.com is an interesting concept, but who has the time?
With that said, I do encourage you to check it out. It may be your cup of tea. The idea is that as you’re surfing and reading Christian blogs, you click on a “bookmarklet” that you save to your bookmarks bar, and that blog entry that encouraged you so much is immediately submitted to blogs4god.com and shows up on their RSS feed. That way, others will see it, and hopefully over time, the entry you submitted will be highly trafficked and encourage the original writer.
There’s a good entry here about how to use blogs4god for your benefit and others.
Great single column Wordpress theme

Found this blog while looking for Wordpress designs today, and was struck by its design and simplicity. Truly, an excellent one-column Wordpress theme. Check it out. (It’s in Spanish, so there may be some guesswork involved in surfing.)
Stupid, people…
Did you know that 58% of folks don’t read books after high school? That’s just a recipe for cultural stupidity.
What’s your temperament?

Our church uses the Choleric-Sanguine-Melancholy- Phlegmatic model of temperament evaluation as a tool to help people understand how different we all are. It’s a fun interaction during our Discovery Group process. I stumbled across an online tool today that is well done at 4marks.com. Check it out.
