Dean, I understand your point completely, and I somewhat agree. But just somewhat. I think the massive and overwhelming turnout was more than just a political statement. It was a cultural shout. So much of the nation is fed up after four years of not being heard. They've called congressmen, shaken their heads in disgust, and for whatever reason, Chik-Fil-A last week became the cultural perfect storm to express themselves.

Could that money have been used elsewhere? Of course. But I do think that the lines at CFA were a unique, one-time cultural volcano that finally erupted. It would have been nice if a charitable alternative had surfaced, but waffle fries ruled the day.

very nice post, quite interesting! we don't have a CFA anywhere within a hour of Wynne, but I did wonder about a particular corner at Broadway and 630 from when I lived in LR where there was always someone asking for money or food or a job or some other basic need. I wondered if there was anyone there on Wednesday?

Could you imagine how many hungry and homeless people could have been fed and sheltered with the money spent at Chick fil A last Wednesday? Nothing against the restaurant or Dan Cathy at all, and nothing against eating at Chick fil A (I do on numerous occasions)... but for folks to have stood in line and bought chicken sandwiches just to make a political statement (and it all really boiled down to politics in the end), priorities need to be re-ordered I think...
