I’ve fixed Windoze and Mac systems… I’d go broke if I had to make a living fixing Mac machines. There’s not enough going wrong on them, nor do you have to take as many security measures as you do on Windoze machines!

Phillip, for the same price or less, I would have recommended the iMac G4. 15-17″ LCD monitor built-in. I’m pretty sure it would still run rings around your Rosie. Hahahahahaa.

But you bring up a very valuable point. Most PC manufacturers are foisting off on the public $500-600 units that can be matched in speed, RAM, and HD easily by older Mac units, still to be found in places like Macattic.com or Ebay.

Chris - Kudos on the building character point! Apple users may have it easier in some ways, but they miss out on the fun parts of PC hacking too - chip sets, busses, the pleasure of self-installation. Character building is what that is!

I recently switched back to a PC for money purposes. I found an awesome deal on a Dell desktop with 160 GB, lots of RAM, a 17 inch flat screen monitor, RW DVD and CD, etc. I got it for $500! I’ve only had it for a couple of months, so no viruses. But PCs do have a feature where you can take your hard drive back to a certain date, and if the virus wasn’t on your computer on that date, then you are good to go. Of course you have to back up your hard drive every week or so, but with 160 GB it doesn’t take long. Now with that said, Macs are better than PCs hands down, but if you only have $500 to spend Dell is not a bad deal. Plus, it builds character to have to use a PC when you are young, and we all know how valuable character is!!!
