Wow!The passion!Would that be my generation by chance?I dont know that I agree completely~I have met some amazing people with the power to transform the world but it is unrealized-people with faith so strong you wonder if they ever even fumble...I see teens today making choices in a very difficult world that would take the strength of armies to make...standing up and speaking out-against the failings of our society....but still holding on to their strong faith and bringing such strength from that faith.....It is amazing to me....As far as me and whom I influence,I am a baby,in my walk, but I still walk with GOD,I would choose no other way.Can a baby influence a baby in a positive way?

"They seem content to buy or pirate mp3’s, wear t-shirts, and spend more money on movies than they do on helping the poor..."

That's not my generation. That's Americans.

I love your response. :-)

While I certainly would not want to discount the ways that God uses us in the small things of life (which may actually be the big things), like conversations, encouragement, daily witnessing, being an example, and being a consistent person of integrity; I still would say that I am alarmed that the past 15 years, by and large, has not produced a generation of young believers who have courage, tenacity, persistence, and a victory mindset.

They seem content to buy or pirate mp3's, wear t-shirts, and spend more money on movies than they do on helping the poor or ensuring that unreached people groups are targeted by some evangelistic strategy.

On top of that, there is an alarming rate of biblical illiteracy in the young church today. Call it pop theology or what you will.

As far as hoping that things will "transpire," I would say that sitting around waiting for some great and heartfelt movement to happen will ensure that it doesn't. It begins with you. And me. What are we actively and sweatily doing today to garner more influence and achieve an authentic influence? What are we doing to solve the myriad problems and societal ills that we are currently aware of?

There ain't no someone else.

"It seems that most of this age’s up and coming spiritual “leaders” have as much ambition to change the world and society as my big toe."
Dang, Jeff, you got something you need to get off your chest? :-)
I think all generations of Christians are a product of their predecessors, all have bad and good. My generation seems to be the hippies who are anti-establishment. More about poetry, less about graphs. More about Jesus, less about rules. Good thing? Not sure.
I think every generation deals with "disenfranchised" youth. Hopefully our generalized lack of ambition will transpire into something great and heartfelt. But, then againg, I am an optimistic.
