Free advertising for killers
Tim Sanders has two powerful posts that I first noticed over at MMI. I think he’s right on. What do you think? Here’s an excerpt:
The video [of Cho] proclaims that “I die like Jesus Christ, to inspire generations of the weak and the defenseless people.” And he gets airtime and webtime to spew this? I can’t believe how irresponsible media sources like NBC and a host of online portals are being. Once let out of the bottle, this newly minted rock star will use the power of sight sound and motion to further his cause after death. If I were NBC I would have squashed it. Give it to the authorities and never show it. They won’t show the footage when Steve Irwin was killed, too distrurbing. But the media and online publishers cannot resist this video.

I totally agree with you. It is disgusting how the media glorifies anyone who is a monster or simply un-American.
Good post.
Dolin, thanks for stopping by and leaving the comment.
It is sad that the media allows such junk to come into our homes. But we shouldn’t be surprised look at all the junky sitcoms and commercials that they allow. We have a culture of kids that is being raised on sex and violence. From the underwear commercials to the extremely violent video games, unless things change it will probably get worse. If we are really concerned then we should do something about it. First off, stop supporting the junk, by buying the games and watching the shows. Secondly, blogs and emails and the internet are quickly becoming the best avenue to get information out to the public. And thirdly we need to be in constant prayer for our communities, their leaders and the nation and our leaders.
I agree. It’s shameful how much the media has jumped on this story and is pulling every bit of sensationalism they can get out of it.
