By the way, this year (2008) there were even more Mac users! I think it was about 60-70% Macs… Yaaaaay!

Actually the computer I am on right now-you got it- $500 special! Well,at least it was,almost two years ago.Now ask me how much software I have purchased for it.Thats right, nothing but an antivirus.And you are right,I have had a few problems out of it-but I fixed them,and here I am.You are also right,in the fact that Mac does not have as many problems as a PC,but you have also failed to mention that some programs like Myspace IM,for example, currently do not run on a Mac.
Not to say that is the fault of Apple,because its not,but it is a drawback when comparing price and usability.

Now dont get me wrong,if someone offered me a Mac,I would take it,If I had seen one in my price range when I bought this one,I would have considered it,but I am just saying,not everyone can pay the price for them.or the Iphones or Ipod or the slew of other gadgets that they want WAY too much money for(.Okay so I am also cheap….tee hee hee.)

Catch me again when I am looking for a laptop January-ish.

Oh nooooo… ;) KT and Deano, you’re killing me here. ;)

KT, I sure see your point. However, for $500, you could easily buy a humdinger of a Mac (like a Mac mini) that will run circles around your $500 Wal-Mart job and NOT have to be replaced in 2-3 years. You will also NOT have to run Windows on your computer which subjects you to spyware, viruses and occasional crashes for which you’ll have to endure the headache of solving or paying someone to fix your computer.

The Mac also comes with a bunch of software that does not come on a $500 Wal-Mart computer, thus saving you even more money.

I know where you’re coming from, and I DO agree that they’re not readily available at an outlet in Monticello, but really, you’re not expecting much from a $500 computer investment if you get it at Wal-Mart.

Deano, I’m so sorry to hear of your recent acquisition. But I’ll still be your friend and even tell you that it looks nice when I see it. ;)

i guess she told you, jeffro. btw, i guess you’ll disown me when you see me next time hauling around my brand new dell laptop. i could’ve held out another year and hoped i could save this year’s tax refund and put next year’s with it to finally buy a mac, but i was ready NOW. maybe i’ll win a mac someday…

Yes,but when I am sitting there-I can pay $498 for a basic computer at wal mart *(because po folks dont have bells and whistles) or I can go and pay a $1000 for a Mac,no matter how amazing it is or how much trouble I have with a PC-If all I have is $500 or so-guess what I will be buying?This “myth” cannot, in actuality, be dubunked because people who are looking for a computer,who are not middle class,financially speaking,cannot afford to pay more just because it has extra features or better performance-

Macs are also not readily available here in Monticello.At any given time if someone deems it necessary that I have a Mac(because there is no myth,I CANNOT AFFORD A MAC) then I am definitely open to donations.So I must say-lets agree to disagree…..when you live it-you realize,that myth ,certainly,cannot be debunked.

KT, actually the ol’ Macs-are-more-expensive-than-PCs argument has been debunked a number of times. They are actually cheaper than PCs when you compare apples to apples. Get a PC loaded with the features that come with an Apple, and you’ll pay more for it. (especially if you start adding in service and headaches!) ;)
