BTW... I'm lovin' the "snap.com" plugin! I had to copycat and add it to my blog too.

What a hot topic. That dude got over a hundred comments on his post about schooling! Needless to say it hits a nerve with everyone who has children. I'm not touching it with a ten-foot pole being as whatever I say I will or will not ever do is precisely what I usually wind up doing or not doing. We still have some time to think about it, thankfully!

I agree with what you're saying about this and about the schools here. We have a great public school system. Choosing to homeschool is a HUGE decision to make (not to mention the responsibility). Some are doing this, and from all indications, are doing a great job. Their reasons are not that of isolation, but of educating their children with the curriculum that they see is what they want them to learn from. Of course some aren't doing such a great job. Their mindset is just that of sheltering, control, or they hate the public schools.

My children are almost school age now, and we've been thinking a lot about this subject. My wife and I are not confident that we can give our children the education they need, so homeschooling is out for us. One part of our course of action will be a lot like yours - GET INVOLVED! If we get and stay involved in their educational experience at their schools by going to board meetings, attending PTA, meeting with the teachers, etc.
