How do you relate most to God?

Are you an employee or a child of the boss? Bill Lollar has a great article about your attitudes toward God.

Some of us feel like God “owes” us for our work for Him, while others always seem to be a little more carefree and innocent in their relationship with God. The latter folks seem to enjoy the fact that they are related to the boss, and at times, screw up far more than regular employees. However, their relationship with the boss is enviable, because it’s based on love.

Hmmm… Go read and tell me what you think.

  • I have often felt this way. I may be totally off subject, but I hate it when people say well if you do this God will bless you or give you what you need. I know this is true, but sometimes I feel that people just do good for the rewards. What happen to doing because it feels right? This goes along with our tithing. I think we are in the right mind set now. I didn’t want to tithe at first because people say God will provide. I felt like I would be tithing in order to expect something. So I think we should be like is children and not his employee. We should because that is what we are suppose to and not expect anything from it.

  • i took our kids to dad’s place last week to see “bridge to teribithia, and while its certainly not a film to glean your theology from, there was a great line in the movie that fits perfectly in the context of this discussion…
jeese invites leslie to church, and afterward he’s surprised that she enjoyed it. he says he hates going and she replies:
“You have to believe it, and you hate it. I don’t have to believe it, and I think it’s beautiful.”

if we look at our Christianity as an obligation that we’re required to fulfill, that its something forced upon us, it will make us miserable. thats the great thing about free will! when we believe and dont have to, it truly IS beautiful.

  • Great movie! I was struck by how overlooked it was. There were several parts in it that I felt corresponded to the great adventure of our faith journey.
