picture-7.pngOboy… the ongoing Fayetteville Football Fiasco just keeps getting better. Already there’s a website that has raised more than $2700 to place ads in state publications publicly asking Houston Nutt and Dictator Broyles to step down. You can donate by Paypal too. Cool. Raise your debt; make a difference. Sounds like a good slogo.

Also, Scott Faldon, the Fort Smith, AR Times Record sports editor publicly calls for a “clean house” at Fayetteville in his sport’s column.

In other news, rumor has it that certain bloggers keep writing about the Mitch Mustain - Casey Dick - Guz Malzahn book - supermodel - Iran nuclear weapons - affair just to show up on search engines and bring more traffic to their blog. Shameful.

I only have one thing to say…”Go LSU!”

I knew that you would have a blog on this. I hate to say it, but, I agree, Houston should probably move on. This drama on the hill is going to hurt recruiting-Big Time. I hate it that Gus and Mitch have joined Damion Williams in their withdrawls from the U of A. I feel that more or less, they were run off basically by Nutt, whose enlarged ego remains focussed as, “I am the offensive coach, and I still make the all of the calls.” This has more or less pushed Gus to go to Tulsa to do what he dreams of doing, and that is run an offense, where he will be very successful. I only see upgrades for his future from this point on.
However, I am still a Razorback fan through thick and thin. And with that said, on the other hand, if you’re not happy here, then go, and leave us. That is more directed to the players that are leaving instead of Gus. Gus was run off, but the players are immature by thinking that they are the best in the world and unreplaceable.
Anyhow, to sum up this whole drama, players, coaches and students come and go, but the University of Arkansas will always remain. Regardless of who is wearing the uniform, I support the Hogs, not the players.

People are makeing to much drama about of this. The reason Mustain and Williams was leaving is because they are mainly from a passing offense. What is AR mainly a running team. And a really good one at that. 10-3 good. Yes AR should be more balanced but it is what it is. If I were Mustain and Williams I would have thought alot more about going to AR. So in reality they are leaving for good reasons. Malzon who knows. We will never truely know what went on behind closed doors this past year. We need to let it go and move on. In all reality the two players leaving didn’t have as big of an impact as the great d-end that is going pro. We will be hurt more from his early departure. Lets move on to another sport like basketball. Which the last I looked is doing pretty well. Later Ryan

Horse hockey. What is equally important is that Coach Nutt promised some things to get the #1 recruited high school quarterback to come to the UofA and didn’t deliver. Not only didn’t he deliver, but he slighted Mustain and crew in the process.

If Mustain had been from another state, that other state’s sports press would be like sharks circling a wounded diver over this. It’s a wonder that Nutt is emerging relatively unscathed here.

This is a home state kids we’re talking about. It says volumes about Nutt’s ability to effectively recruit in the future. Who wants to come to play football for him based on promises now?

  5. Kevin Says:

    Ryan,
the basketball team is not much better. This year Stan was supposed to shine with all of “his own recruits” Even though they started the conference blowing out a top ten team of Alabama, since then, they’ve lost three in a row. Two of the losses to teams that they should have blown out. Georgia beat us at home last night by three points. If that had of been Kentucky or Florida, it wouldn’t be as bad for a home loss, but Georgia is picked to finish last in the East and they beat us at home. In my opinion, Heath and Nutt need to find different homes, and we just need to start all over with new coaching staffs for both sports. The only reason that we were 10-3 this year, is because of the running attack we have. If Mcfadden and Jones were playing for any other power house team, their record would have been better than Arkansas’ this year. The sad fact is that Nutt will have these two running backs for 1 or even 2 more years, and they will make him look like a genius. When they leave, Arkansas will be back on the losing record. Yes Jeff, Nutt has finally gotten to me, with his play calling and his ego. That is why I say, “Coaches, players and students will come and go, but the Arkansas Razorbacks will always be who I cheer for”.

No it is not good for AR to lose players. But if memory serves me correct AR lost a decent QB to UCA several years back and his dad was on staff at AR. I think his name was Clark. This is not the first time Nutt has lost AR athletes. And It won’t be the last. Great players will go where great coaches are. If that is AR in the future who knows. I’ve never said that Nutt was a good or bad coach. I could care less. But the fact is that 2 potentially great players left because we’re not a passing team. That is the only conclusion anyone can make except for the persons directly involved. As for Nutt not delivering. I don’t see how, he got the kids to come. But some chose not to stay. That is the choice kids make for whatever the reason. Honestly I don’t think Mustain is that good. He’ll get better. But he’s really not that good. Dick isn’t either. What would help AR is a QB. You know other states deal with this as well look at TX, FL, CA, they all deal with this problem.

  7. Ryan Says:

You know they were 10-4 this year. I really didn’t know that was cause to be fired. Last I looked that was a great record. But in athletics fans never remember the 10 wins they always remember the last loss. Sad really. We have a really good year and all anyone can talk about is 2 freshmen and a first year college coach. You know there is 50 to 70 other kids that play for AR and stay and love it. So lets get off our high horse stay focused. We have the leading Heisman candidate returning and possibly another Heisman candidate. All we need is a Qb.

  8. Jeff Says:

But what QB wants to come to Arkansas when he won’t get to QB? I’ve still got four years of eligibility left… I can go up there and just hand the ball off to D-Mac and Jones.

They had a great QB and lost him because they wanted a running team.

A great QB would only enable our two star RBs to excel even more! Perhaps McFadden would have won the Heisman this year if Nutt had incorporated more of a passing offense and taken so much pressure off of the running game…

  9. Ryan Says:

What great QB surely you don’t mean Mustain. The guy had way too many int’s against our weak opponents. He should have shined against ULM and other weak non conference teams. But he didn’t. He’s not great atleast not yet.

  10. Kevin Says:

Hey Jeff !!! Were you the one that fronted the article in the Arkansas Democrat to run Nutt and Broyles off! I saw that this morning on Daybreak and I said to myself, “that sounds like Jeff!” They said that nobody has claimed the responsibity on it yet, I felt like calling in and telling them who it was.

  11. Jeff Says:

Were you all aware that Houston Nutt, when he was a player for the Hogs, transferred OUT in 1977 to OSU? Reason cited: MORE PLAYING TIME.

    Methinks me smells a rat.
